Student Counseling

The psychological health of students, study skills and career skills are very important for achieving academic, social, and professional success
The counseling aims to organize the general framework for providing counselling at AFU by clarifying the aspects of counseling service provided at the university, clarifying students who benefit from the counseling service, maintaining confidentiality and privacy, clarifying the steps for providing the service, and the process of transferring the student to the concern person or unit responsible for providing counselling at the university, keeping records and data, and announcing the counseling service available at AFU.
Aspects of Counseling Services
- Psychological Counseling
AFU provides psychological counseling by organizing scientific meetings and training courses on various psychological topics in cooperation with local community institutions. The student may also be referred to a faculty member with a doctorate degree in psychology for guidance on general basic topics related to exam anxiety, adjustment, social skills. As for cases that require the intervention of a licensed psychologist or a psychiatrist, the student is instructed only on how to communicate with the concerned authorities in the country, and the university cannot intervene in such advanced cases.
- Academic Counselling
Every student at AFU gets an academic advising service so that an academic advisor is assigned to each student who helps him/her in selecting and registering courses according to the study plan and follows the student's academic performance. The academic advisor also helps the student to develop required skills in the labor market, such as writing a CV and conducting interviews. Students who exhibit less than expected grades are helped through several steps, including communicating with these students and providing them with the opportunity to attend educational meetings on study skills, follow-up by the academic advisor and trying to identify the causes and suggest solutions and procedures, and write continuous reports on the academic performance of these students to know the effectiveness of the procedures taken and the progress in performance.
Entitlement to Counselling

- Evaluating students 'needs at the beginning of each academic year to identify students' needs and plan counseling services that match those needs
