Al Falah University and British Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement includes having Al Falah University an approved venue for IELTS tests, the international system for assessing English language proficiency.
The signing ceremony happened at AFU. Prof. Adi Arida, President, and Mr. Deep Adhikari, Director of Examinations in the Southern Gulf Region signed the memorandum, in the presence of Dr. Reem Yousef, Dean Assistant of Student Affairs.
Within the stipulation of the agreement, AFU will provide prospective test takers with information on the international system for assessing English language proficiency (IELTS), register the test takers and operate as an examination venue. The agreement also specified that AFU will need to provide 4 computer laboratories equipped with the advanced technologies necessary to conduct the IELTS test while British Council will be responsible for managing and conducting the tests.
The MoU aims to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between AFU and British Council in the areas of training, exchange of experiences, and organization of joint conferences and workshops. AFU seeks to benefit from the partnership with the aim of supporting prospective students to fulfill their English language proficiency admission requirement and enhance the cultural and educational partnership between UAE and the United Kingdom.
Prof. Arida stated that the global partnership with British Council is the culmination of the relationship between the University and the Council and how far the professional relationship has come, from providing paper-based IELTS test to include now, after signing of the MoU, a computer based IELTS test.
Mr. Adhikari expressed his gratitude for the University administration for cooperating and providing the test takers with the services they require. He also thanked AFU for years of partnership in helping the test takers gauge their English language proficiency.
