In cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Al Falah University organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Day with faculty members, administrative staff and students in attendance.
The awareness seminar dealt with the importance of early screening for women, monthly self-examination as well as raising awareness on how food and a healthy lifestyle could help in preventing breast cancer. The psychological effects of the disease on patients and their families were also discussed. After the presentation, there was an open dialogue between the representatives of the Department of Health Education at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dr. Ibtisam Saleh Al-Qina and Mrs. Kariman Buzo and the attendees.
The participants also learned the factors causing breast cancer and the procedures on how to do a self-examination. Dr. Ibtisam stressed the importance of early detection, pointing to the importance of annual radiological examination or mammogram for women over the age of forty years, or women with a family history of the disease.
Mrs. Kariman Bouzou also added that every woman should do periodic personal examination because prevention is better than treatment.
Towards the end of the seminar, the President of the University, Prof. Abdelhafid Belarbi, honored the campaigners from the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and took a collective picture in recognition of their positive and distinctive interaction in order to make this national campaign, which comes within the International Month of Breast Cancer Awareness.
