Al Falah University students launched an innovation exhibition in celebration of #Innovation Month under the guidance of the Deanship of Student Affairs and the General Education Department.
President Abdelhafid Belarbi, AFU President, said that the university’s educational environment strives to foster innovation and to explore various resources available to support student innovators. He also added that AFU upholds UAE Innovation Month’s ideas and encourages students to present and develop their ideas.
The exhibition presented the students’ projects for implementation and sponsorship by both governmental and private institutions.
As part of the UAE Innovation Day, Al Falah University participated in the 3rd Annual Symposium on Innovation and Entrepreneurship organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Stanford University and hosted by the American University of Sharjah.
Ms. Ghaida Al Rawashdeh, Head of General Education Department is pleased with the initiative to establish a culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the UAE. She also said: “AFU participates annually in this forum which aims at fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. This forum endeavors to develop students’ knowledge and skills on an innovative basis and enhances the role of universities as a scientific, intellectual and cultural platform. In line with the objectives of the vision of UAE 2021, the education sector intends to support the development process of building an integrated economic system based on the knowledge that enhances UAE’s superiority and its global leadership.”
Along with Ms. Rawashdeh, Dr. Mohanad Halaweh, Associate Professor from College of Business Administration also attended the symposium.
In conjunction with UAE Innovation Month, Al Falah University participated in the Arab Innovation Festival 2018 held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, the event’s organizer.
Prof. Abdelhafid Belarbi, AFU President and Dr. Sameer Barghouthi, Vice President for Academic Affairs represented AFU.
The three-day event will tackle several topics including sustainable energy, healthcare, modern growth, innovative services in government, innovation and leadership in the future of energy, solutions to global energy needs, artificial intelligence and its role in healthcare.

The world of gadgets better spread its arms open to welcome the young entrepreneurs our University is incubating because the students of Al Falah University have developed a mobile application that not only offers a valuable input to technology but it serves a greater mission of serving the humanity.
Al Falah University has the privilege of offering an exemplary standard of education while serving the community in the best possible manner. This culture has trickled down to its students who are now coming up with ideas that are impacting the society in positive manner. “IHop” is the new mobile application, developed by students of ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ course offered by AFU, which will connect the less-abled people to a network where they are only a click away from any facility they can think of. Offering a range of services from choosing any special item for their need to online shopping as well as donation, IHop will provide a wide array of choices that any user will certainly benefit from.
After the application got adopted by Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Smart Majlis, Sama Dubai TV has interviewed the developers of “IHope”; Walid Ahmed, Aayh Fadhl and Maryam Alsuwaidi to learn more about the application and how it was developed. Ms. Ghaida Al Rawashdeh, the head of the General Education Department and the supervisor of this project, stressed the role education can play in building a culture of innovation. “In this increasingly competitive and fast changing world, it is crucial to cultivate and ignite today’s students' innovative and entrepreneurial spirit in order to approach tomorrow’s challenges. Weaving a spirit of innovation and creativity into the very fabric of the university culture is what differentiates between those universities that lead and those who chase. This honor is a driving factor for these innovators and for them this ride to creativity has just begun, because at Al Falah University sky is the limit!” Ms. Al Rawashdeh explained.
