A course in which a student is individually supervised by a faculty member, which enables a student to undertake a learning opportunity which is otherwise unavailable. Independent study courses must have an appropriate learning plan (typically a syllabus), learning outcomes, end of term evaluations and appropriate assessment.
Independent study is only allowed for undergraduate studies, and only in rare cases.
Independent study normally will only be permitted for one course in a student's program.
No Independent Study is allowed for any course if it is offered in that semester.
